Abstract

Poverty remains one of the most significant global challenges and has prompted the development of various social policies aimed at mitigating its effects. Conditional cash transfer (CCT) programs have emerged as an effective and multidimensional approach to fight poverty through education, health, and nutrition. Prospera, Mexico's flagship CCT program was one of the longest standing and best researched programs in the world. This paper analyzes the success of Prospera and its impact on global development policy. It concludes with a discussion on the program's termination and best practices for the implementation of future poverty alleviation initiatives.
