Call for Submissions 2026

07/26/2026

Visualities is a double peer-reviewed journal published by Temple University dedicated to exploring the intersection of visual practice, critical theory, and material culture. The objective is to annually publish compelling visual works paired with rigorous conceptual writing that push the boundaries of artistic research and design discourse.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must consist of two integrated components:

  1. One high resolution PDF including only the image of the artwork, design project, photograph, or film still, of exactly 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, in landscape format, in RGB color mode, on a white background if required, and with embedded fonts and vector elements where applicable.
  2. One DOC, TXT, or PDF file with the conceptual description of 300 to 500 words explaining the why and how behind the what, detailing the context, theoretical thinking, material process, and conceptual framework behind the visual work. This ensures the visual is not just seen, but understood within its socio-cultural, artistic, or technical context.
