About the Journal

Focus and Scope

TUHSSA aims for Perceptions to be a robust scholarly publication that expresses the breadth of undergraduate research and writing in our related constituencies in history and social sciences within Temple University's College of Liberal Arts. Perceptions is therefore an interdiscplinary publication that focues on highlighting the relationships between many different subject areas. TUHSSA accepts papers in disciplines that our editors and reviewers have knowledge and comfortability in editing which includes, but is not necessarily limited to: American Studies, Art History, Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Gender/Sexuality/Women's Studies, Geography/Urban Studies, History, Political Science, and Sociology. 

Peer Review Process

Perceptions senior editorial team is composed of the Board Members of TUHSSA as well as additional underergraduate reviewers who have extensive expertise in research and scholarly writing. Additional editors are composed of TUHSSA members and other qualified undergraduate students who have responded to our call for Editors who can provide sufficient evidence of proficiency in editing scholarly work. 

Perceptions edits submissions using a double-blind review process whith two reviewers for each work. Submissions are reviewed and edited for spelling and grammatical mistakes as well as ensuring appropriate citations for all sources as well as making sure that the author's argument holds up. Reviewers are typically given several weeks to make edits to the submissions they have been assigned to look at.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Journal History

Perceptions was first published by the Temple Undergraduate History and Social Sciences Association (TUHSSA) in 2010. Previous issues of Perceptions can be found here
